01Incoterms we quote
We quote on Incoterms 2020. The rule and the named place always appear together on the quotation and pro-forma — “FOB Valencia” rather than “FOB”, because the rule without the place is incomplete.
| Rule | We arrange | You arrange | Risk passes |
|---|---|---|---|
| EXW Madrid | Goods picked, packed and available for collection | Loading, export clearance, all transport and insurance | When goods are placed at your disposal at our premises |
| FOB Valencia / Barcelona | Inland haulage, export clearance, delivery on board | Sea freight, insurance, import clearance, delivery | When goods are on board the vessel |
| CFR destination port | As FOB plus sea freight to the named port | Insurance, import clearance, delivery | When goods are on board at the load port |
| CIF destination port | As CFR plus minimum cargo insurance | Import clearance, duty, delivery | When goods are on board at the load port |
| DAP named address | All transport to the named place, unloaded not included | Import clearance, duty and taxes, unloading | On arrival, ready for unloading at the named place |
Under CIF we arrange the minimum cover the rule requires (Institute Cargo Clauses (C)). If you need all-risks cover, ask for it at enquiry and it will be quoted as a separate line.
02Choosing between EXW and FOB
EXW gives you full control from our door and suits buyers with an established forwarder in Spain. It also puts export clearance on you, which several buyers underestimate — a non-established buyer cannot always act as EU exporter of record.
FOB is the usual starting point for a first order: we handle the road leg from Madrid and the export formalities, and hand over at the quay, and you retain control of the sea leg and your own freight rates.
03Payment terms
Unless agreed otherwise in writing, terms are 100% prepayment in cleared funds against pro-forma invoice before goods are allocated for loading.
For established buyers with a settled trading history we will consider:
- A deposit against order with the balance before despatch or against documents;
- An irrevocable documentary letter of credit at sight, confirmed by a bank acceptable to us, with charges outside Spain for the applicant’s account;
- Cash against documents (CAD) through our bank.
Open credit is not offered on first orders and is granted only after a completed buyer registration and satisfactory references.
04Accepted payment methods
We accept bank transfer (SEPA or SWIFT) and documentary letter of credit. We do not accept cash, cryptocurrency, or payment from a third party unrelated to the buyer named on the invoice — third-party payments are returned and the order held, as they cannot be reconciled for anti-money-laundering purposes.
Our bank details appear on the pro-forma invoice only. We never change our bank details by email mid-transaction. If you receive a message purporting to do so, stop and telephone the trade desk on the number published on this website before sending any funds.
05Currency, charges and shortfalls
Invoices are issued in euro (EUR) unless otherwise agreed. All bank charges outside Spain, including intermediary and correspondent bank fees, are for the buyer’s account: transfers must be sent on “OUR” charge terms so the invoiced amount arrives in full.
Where a payment arrives short because charges were deducted, the balance falls due immediately and goods are not released until it is received.
06Late payment
Where credit terms have been granted, overdue sums bear interest at the statutory rate set by Ley 3/2004, de 29 de diciembre, on combating late payment in commercial transactions, together with the fixed recovery compensation that Act allows. We may suspend outstanding orders while any invoice is overdue.
07Taxes and duties
Prices are exclusive of VAT. Intra-EU supplies to a buyer holding a valid VAT number verified in VIES are invoiced at 0% under the intra-Community supply rules; exports outside the EU are zero-rated on production of proof of export. If valid evidence is not obtained, we reserve the right to invoice VAT at the applicable Spanish rate.
Import duty, excise, VAT and any destination-market levy are the buyer’s responsibility under every rule we quote except DDP, which we do not offer as standard.
