How Milka is supplied
Format availability is allocation-dependent, so the exact specification always travels on the pro-forma invoice rather than being fixed on a web page. Tell us the destination and the label rule you work to, and we confirm which market version is on offer before you commit.

The same trademark is not the same pack
Buyers rarely have trouble finding Milka. They have trouble making sure the Milka that arrives is the one their retailer agreed to list. A trademark produced across a wide footprint exists in several parallel versions, and those versions are not commercially interchangeable even when the product inside is broadly the same idea. This page is about that gap, because on a tablet brand it is the thing that most often turns a good price into a bad shipment.
Our answer to it is not clever, it is procedural: we sell EU-produced stock in the manufacturer's own sealed cases, and we write the confirmed market version onto the offer before anything is committed. That is a duller promise than most wholesale pages make and considerably easier to hold to.
What actually differs between versions
Five things move between production regions, and each of them can break a listing on its own.
- Grammage. The tablet weight that anchors a fixture in one region is not always the tablet weight produced for another, and a shelf price built on one gram count does not survive the other.
- Specification. Recipes for the same named product can be built to different regional specifications, which shows up in taste, in texture and occasionally in how the pack behaves in heat.
- Declaration format. European packs carry the European ingredient and nutrition declaration, with allergens emphasised in the ingredient list and vegetable oils named by source rather than lumped together. Other regimes format the same information differently.
- Language set. European artwork carries a defined set of languages for the markets it was printed for. A destination that expects a different set will say so at the border rather than at the negotiation.
- Article numbering. Different versions of the same product carry different article numbers, which is the one that catches people out.
Why the barcode is usually the one that bites
A retail listing is not opened against a brand. It is opened against a specific article number, with a price, a planogram slot and a replenishment rule attached to it. When a consignment arrives carrying a different number for what is visibly the same product, the receiving system does not care that it is the same product. The line will not scan into the listing, the goods sit in the yard while somebody raises a new article, and the promotion they were bought for runs without them.
That is why we treat version confirmation as a pre-order step rather than a shipping detail. It costs one email at enquiry stage and it is expensive in every other position on the timeline.
What goes in writing, and when
The confirmed market version travels on the pro-forma. Grammage, artwork language, pack format, dating and the Incoterm are set out there against stock we can actually see, and nothing loads against a figure or a description that was not agreed there first.
For Gulf listings and their regional equivalents, say early on whether extra labelling, a regional declaration format or particular certification is a condition of getting listed, and say whether that condition comes from the authority or from the retailer. Which of them a batch can satisfy follows from where it was made, so the answer is taken from the consignment on the table and never issued as a statement about the brand. We supply in the manufacturer's sealed packaging and do not overlabel, relabel or re-box, which is both a compliance position and a practical one: an overstickered pack invites the question of what is underneath it. What EU-sourced actually means in practice sets out how that stock reaches us and what evidence follows it.
A flat tablet is the harshest judge of a warm lane
Among chocolate formats, the large flat tablet is the least forgiving thing to move. It presents a lot of surface for its weight, and it sits in a rigid pack that displays every defect through the wrapper. A tablet that went through a warm spell and cooled again can be entirely sound and still look like returned stock, and on a brand bought largely on shelf appearance, looking like returned stock is the same thing as being unsaleable. A wrapped countline hides its history until the shopper has already paid; a tablet does not get that grace.
The decision that follows is about equipment and timing rather than about the product. We look at the sailing window, the corridor, the season at both ends and how long the box is likely to stand after discharge, and where controlled equipment is warranted the set points go on the booking rather than being assumed. Where it is not warranted we say so, because a reefer nobody needed is money out of your margin. We do not publish temperature thresholds or transit times here: the honest version of that answer depends on the lane and the month, and it belongs in a written offer rather than on a web page.
Co-branded tablets carrying another manufacturer's biscuit are produced, cased and ranged as tablets, so they are quoted here. If it is the sandwich biscuit itself you are listing rather than the tablet, work from the sandwich biscuit export listing instead, where the roll and multipack formats are covered properly.
Ranging tiers, order units and terms
The width of the flavour range is what lets this brand hold a block on its own, and it is also what tempts a first-time importer into buying far too much of it. No shelf anywhere needs the entire European variant list. What it needs is a backbone of the plain milk tablet in whichever weight your channel actually sells, then a short and deliberately contrasting set of filled options so a shopper has somewhere to move without leaving the block, then, if the market rewards it, one calendar-led line purchased for a specific window instead of held as permanent stock. Past that, additional variants only redistribute the same sales, and they are the cases nobody has touched by the time the reorder falls due.
Orders run by the case, the pallet or the full container load, with mixed-brand and mixed-category pallets treated as normal. Loading is at our Madrid warehouse, so EXW on our offers is the seller's inland premises rather than a port; FOB, CFR, CIF and DAP are available through Valencia and Barcelona. DDP is not part of our standard offer. The document set is the commercial invoice, packing list, export declaration and transport document, with a Certificate of Origin and an EUR.1 movement certificate where a preferential trade agreement applies. How those terms interact with payment is set out in our Incoterms and payment terms. We are an independent distributor of genuine brand-owner stock, appointed by nobody, and we would rather be plain about that than borrow authority we do not have. To open a conversation, talk to the desk with a destination and a channel in hand.
Confirming the version before the container is booked
Three checks close most of the risk on a tablet programme, and all three happen before money moves.
First, the article: which exact version, in which grammage, under which article number, and does that match what your retailer has opened a listing against. Second, the pack: which language set the artwork carries and whether anything further is required at import, established against the specific consignment rather than in general terms. Third, the calendar: the load date and the sailing month, since the same route can be untroubled in one month and exposed in another, and since any remaining-shelf-life rule at your destination has to be worked backwards from the arrival date rather than the departure.
Once those are settled the pro-forma is cut and the booking follows it. Quantities, pack configuration and pallet build are stated against the allocation genuinely on offer that week rather than against a published table. Quotation on a listed brand takes one business day, and our customers are trade buyers only: importers, distributors, wholesalers, retail groups and re-exporters.
