Specification

How Kimbo Coffee is supplied

Format availability is allocation-dependent, so the exact specification always travels on the pro-forma invoice rather than being fixed on a web page. Tell us the destination and the label rule you work to, and we confirm which market version is on offer before you commit.

Espresso is a specification

Espresso is a specification before it is a taste. It commits the buyer to a grind, a roast degree, a blend built to behave under pressure, and a machine at the far end that somebody has already set to it. Kimbo is a Naples house, and the cup it exists to produce is the southern Italian bar cup: dark, heavy in the mouth, finished with the persistent crema a regular customer reads as proof the drink was made properly. That is the entire basis on which the brand is bought at trade volume, and it is why substitution behaves differently here than in most of the coffee and tea range we ship.

A southern Italian roast is a commitment, not a preference

Roast degree is only the visible part. Neapolitan roasting runs longer and darker than the northern Italian norm, and the blends behind it are assembled to give body in a very short extraction and to survive being finished with hot milk. Everything downstream is calibrated to that decision: the grinder setting, the dose, the barista's timing, the taste the customer who comes in every morning is expecting.

Change the blend and all four move at once. It is the reason a bar will absorb a cost increase before it will accept a swap, and the reason we either quote the reference you named or tell you it is not available, rather than offering something adjacent and letting the receiving warehouse discover the difference. Nothing is substituted without your agreement in writing.

The same brand answers two very different briefs

Confusing an Italian-market espresso specification with a northern European one is the most common way this listing goes wrong, and the two are worth separating before the format conversation starts.

Where there is an established bar culture — Italy itself, the southern Mediterranean, the Italian diaspora trade, the Italian-format café sector that has grown across the Gulf — espresso is the default drink and your customer is buying a professional input. The order is placed by blend, in whole bean, by the case, on a schedule, for a specific machine. Arguments about quality are settled in the cup within a week by people who drink twenty a week.

Further north, espresso is more often a retail proposition sharing a fixture with filter coffee and instant. The shopper takes a ground pack or a capsule home, brews it on domestic equipment, and reads the pack for reassurance rather than judging the crema. There, assortment breadth matters more than blend continuity, gifting and seasonal formats do work a 1kg bag never does, and the brand competes against a completely different set of names. Buyers covering both briefs at once usually price the Lavazza range on the same enquiry, since a Turin house and a Naples house are read differently on a shelf even by shoppers who could not explain why.

Formats and the counter each one stands behind

Offices and bars without a grinderESE paper podsPortion control, consistency, waste handling

Those rows do not behave alike on a pallet either. Bean bags are dense and stack honestly. Capsule cartons are light and hungry for space. Pods sit somewhere between the two. A pallet composed across all three is a different build from a pallet of one, which is why composition is agreed rather than assumed.

Continuity is most of what a foodservice account is buying

Away-from-home demand behaves better than retail demand and it punishes gaps harder. A bar reorders on a rhythm rather than on promotion, so a distributor supplying twenty of them can forecast a container programme with reasonable confidence. The flip side is that a stock-out is not a lost sale, it is a lost account: a café that has calibrated a grinder to one blend cannot simply run something else for a fortnight and switch back.

So the useful shape for an espresso listing is usually a standing arrangement rather than a series of one-off pallets — volumes agreed against your own reorder cycle, with each shipment planned around a sailing rather than around whichever week the enquiry landed. Tell us the blends, the depth per blend and the interval you need cover for, and the programme is built backwards from that.

Blends, Arabica and Robusta as a commercial variable

The range moves between all-Arabica compositions and blends carrying Robusta, and for a trade buyer that is a commercial choice rather than a grading exercise. All-Arabica references go where a market will pay for the lighter, more perfumed cup and the shelf price supports it. Blends carrying Robusta are what most bar service actually runs on, because they deliver body and a crema that holds, and because the cup has to stand up inside a milk drink. Neither is the better product; they answer different questions. Naming which question your accounts are asking shortens the quotation considerably.

Shipping Italian espresso out of a Spanish base

Very little Italian coffee reaches a Gulf, West African, Eastern European or Asian importer straight off the roastery dock. It goes through somewhere that can gather a mixed load together, wrap it and paper it as a single consignment. Ours is Madrid, an inland loading point about 355 km from Valencia and 620 km from Barcelona, with Algeciras as the transhipment alternative and Coslada available for rail. That matters because EXW Madrid means our premises, not a quay, and a buyer trading on those terms takes the road leg. We also quote FOB, CFR, CIF and DAP; DDP is not standard. The terms and payment page sets out how each one divides the risk.

Consignments carry a commercial invoice, packing list, export declaration and transport document, with a Certificate of Origin and an EUR.1 movement certificate where a preferential agreement covers your destination. We ship to every continent and publish no market list, since the markets we serve change with demand rather than with policy. Stock is EU-produced and supplied in the manufacturer's own sealed packaging. Iguazu Trading is an independent distributor of genuine brand-owner goods, not an appointed agent of any brand on this site.

Setting up a standing espresso programme

Most Kimbo accounts start with a single pallet and then discover the real question, which is not what to buy but how often. Foodservice customers do not tolerate gaps, so the second order is where the arrangement is worth formalising.

Send us the blends by name, the depth you turn on each one in a normal month, the formats those accounts actually run, and the interval you need to be covered for. From that we can put a schedule against sailings rather than against enquiry dates, and hold the composition steady between shipments so your customers see the same box each time. Volumes, how the pallets are composed, cases per carton and the life left on the code at loading are set out in writing for each release, measured against what is genuinely available that week rather than against a standing table. Case, pallet and full container loads all work, and part-loads are available for accounts building toward a container. Enquiries on listed brands are answered inside one business day.
